A comparison between the 'Sangbae' and Big Toes on asphalt shingles. The better design will have a higher maximum shear force and a lower minimum normal force (higher adhesion). On this surface, the Sangbae toes are better.

Compare these to my new "tri-toes" not much a difference! But why? Possibly the asphalt surface is degrading. There are noticibly less asperieties on the surface. I would still expect better, unless it truly is the surface that is limiting the performance.
