The EMCO E50 generates up to 5 kV of output, though only 0.6 mA of current. So you'll get a zap, but it probably won't do any damage.

  • Always keep one hand in your pocket (to avoid current path through the heart)
  • Always use bleed resistor in parallel with load to discharge caps. Otherwise, supply will stay energized after power is turned off.

  • This model does not have short circuit protection. Use a slow blow fuse on the input to avoid damaging the device (400 mA maximum input current under load, so use 0.5 or 1A fuse).
